Veli Sahin

Dr. Sahin has been working in the area of communications networks for over 25 years. He worked in different areas of communications systems such as transmission, switching, wireless communications, management systems, business development, and marketing working on as a planner, strategist, and developer. His current interests include:
    IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS) and Next Generation IP-based Converged Networks (NGN) architectures, technologies, services, and standards.
    Triple / Quad Play services (IPTV, VoD, VoIP, and FMC) requirements, markets, technologies, strategies, and end-to-end network/service management.
    IMS/NGN/IPTV/Video business development activities with major service providers such as AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Qwest.
    IMS/NGN/IPTV/VoIP standards and Interoperability requirements.
He has been very active in organizing Conferences/Symposiums/Workshops, and giving tutorials/seminars/talks at the IEEE conferences/symposiums as an invited speaker. He was also member of Journal on Network and Systems Management (JNSM) Advisory Board and international Journal on Communications Network (JCN) Editorial Board. He was the General Chair for the 2002 and 1998 Network Operations and Management Symposium (NOMS), Co-Founder and first chair of the newly formed IEEE ComSoc Technical Committee on Information Infrastructure (TCII) for 12/95 - 6/98), Chair for the IEEE ComSoc Technical Committee on Network Operations and Management (CNOM) for 6/98 – 6/00, and Group Leader & IEEE ComSoc representative for the Second International Conference on Information Infrastructure (ICII’98).

Dr. Sahin received his Ph.D. in Multi Hop Packet Radio Networks from Polytechnic University, and worked at Bell Labs, Bellcore, NEC America, SAMSUNG, and MARCONI Communications. He has over 80 internal and external publications and co-author of a book titled as "Network Management into the 21st Century," IEEE Press, 1994.
