Company:
Alcatel

Product: Alcatel Litespan 1540 Multiservice Access Gateway

Product Description: Litespan 1540 Multiservice Access Gateway is the Alcatel decentralized access gateway that provides Voice over Packets in addition to the voice over V5, data and broadband DSL services.

As one of the key components of Alcatel’s Next Generation Network (NGN) solution, the Alcatel Litespan 1540 Multiservice Access Gateway provides the link between TDM and IP/ATM, allowing a smooth transition to NGN while maintaining its multiservice offer. Its Voice over IP services enable service providers to address the challenges they face today, and evolve their infrastructure towards NGNs.

The Alcatel Litespan 1540 incorporates an integrated media gateway that combines voice over V5 and VoIP, and VoDSL, and data (TDM and ATM) services. VoIP calls are managed by Alcatel 5000 Softswitch via H.248 Megaco signaling protocol. The merging of the Litespan 1540 VoIP features and Alcatel 5000 Softswitch ensures interoperability, minimum delay, high density, Quality of Service, security, privacy, scalability and high reliability in Alcatel VoIP services.

Product: Alcatel 5000 Softswitch

Product Description: The Alcatel 5000 Softswitch Platform is the "next generation intelligence" in a distributed switch/router network. It performs connection control for trunking and access gateways, providing Class 4/transit and Class5/local switch functionality. The Alcatel 5000 Softswitch Platform supports the interoperability of control, services and transport in a single integrated system, providing the bridge between circuit and packet switches. It is a standards-based solution for vendor independence and integration into various networks.

Call control and service execution are separated from IP-signaling termination and resource management via a clean API (Application Programming Interface). This lets customers to run multiple IP-protocols simultaneously or swap easily to new versions of emerging protocols, without any impact on the Call Control. This approach makes this product both transport- and signaling-agnostic, while allowing the broadest possible deployment of the product, and within the customer's preferred environment.

Product: Alcatel 5020 Softswitch

Product Description: The Alcatel 5020 Softswitch platform is a scalable, carrier class platform that capitalizes on the popularity of Internet applications by offering a wide rang of next generation voice and multimedia features. By employing a truly open, modular architecture, the Alcatel 5020 Softswitch allows for rapid development and deployment of new innovative services.

Alcatel has defined a number of key applications for the Alcatel 5020 Softswitch:

  • The IP Offload (IPO) Application allows service providers to optimize their network architecture, which results in significant cost reductions
  • The Long Distance Bypass application (LDB) enables service providers to use packet-based networks for basic long distance voice traffic, thus allowing bypass of the traditional trunk, toll and international exchanges.
  • The IP Telephony (IPT) Application provides IP-Based telephony services (voice/video/data) between two native IP terminals, or between a native IP terminal and a subscriber connected to the IP network through IP gateways. In addition the IPT Application offers a wide range of IP-VPN services typically targeted at the enterprise market
  • The Multimedia Application enables IP-based multimedia services.
Product: Alcatel 7505 Media Gateway

Product Description: As one of the key components of Alcatel’s Next Generation Network (NGN) solutions, the Alcatel 7505 Media Gateway provides seamless interworking of voice and fax connections between the public switched telephone network (PSTN) and IP networks. Designed for entry-level port density and scalability the Alcatel 7505 Media Gateway is ideally suited for a distributed network model where small trunking gateways are being deployed at numerous points of presence (PoPs). Voice over IP solutions enable service providers to address the challenges they face today, and evolve their infrastructure towards NGNs.

The Alcatel 7505 Media Gateway is a carrier grade media gateway optimized for NGN softswitch-controlled applications, using the industry standard MGCP and Megaco/H.248 gateway control protocols. Featuring a field-proven NEBS-3-compliant hardware platform and a distributed IP forwarding architecture, it offers high performance packet voice processing and signaling. Thanks to the use of open standardized interfaces, the Alcatel 7505 Media Gateway can be integrated into any multi-vendor next-generation network.

Product: Alcatel 7510 Media Gateway

Product Description: As one of the key components of Alcatel’s Next Generation Network (NGN) solutions, the Alcatel 7510 Media Gateway provides seamless interworking of voice and fax connections between the public switched telephone network (PSTN) and IP networks. By enabling voice services to ride atop of data networks, service providers can maximize the value of their current investments while enabling future service rollouts that incorporate the latest technologies. Featuring an advanced architecture and interfaces optimized for packet voice applications together with carrier-class reliability, availability, and quality, the Alcatel 7510 Media Gateway combines the reliability and simplicity of voice with the speed and efficiency of data networks.

As a common platform offering multiple media gateway applications, the Alcatel 7510 Media Gateway facilitates the evolution of the PSTN towards a voice over packet network in a unique manner. Based on its TDM switching and voice over IP (VoIP) capabilities, the Alcatel 7510 Media Gateway supports Internet-Offload, as well as NGN class 4 and class 5 solutions. Thanks to the use of open standardized interfaces and protocols, such as Megaco/H.248, MGCP and SIGTRAN, the Alcatel 7510 Media Gateway can be integrated into any multi-vendor next-generation network.
