Supports MSF Release 1: Products List

To list your product on our web site, please send an email to info@msforum.org.

Company:
Marconi

Product: The Marconi SoftSwitch solution is based on a modular set of best-in-class products that are used in different combinations to provide the functionality for a specific network solution. This flexibility offers new levels of choice, putting you in control.

Call Agent: The Call Agent benefits from our unique, flexible call control software, allowing delivery of those services most valuable to you, as well as the new IP-based applications. Call Agent combines a small physical footprint and low power requirements with performance in excess of one-million Busy Hour Call Attempts within a single shelf. Unlike many of our competitors', our solution is easily scalable by simply adding slide-in units and not having to replace complete units.

Media Gateway: The Media Gateway connects the SoftSwitch to legacy TDM networks, converting voice and data into packets. With a small footprint, it reduces the space you need and distributes connections around the network.

Signalling Gateway: The Signalling Gateway connects IP and PSTN networks. It is flexible and can handle many signalling messages over a large number of signalling links. The Signalling Gateway transfers SS7 call control messages from a PCM data-stream to the Call Agent, and vice versa. The Signalling Gateway supports ETSI SS7 signalling and works with both overlay and in-band signalling networks, allowing true flexibility in network design.

Media Firewall: The SoftSwitch provides security between the SoftSwitch Node and other networks by only allowing authorised traffic through the core network, via the Media Firewall. Uniquely, the Media Firewall also provides real-time packet-flow monitoring and discards any packets that exceed the authorised bandwidth. The combination of these features prevents hacking, denial of service attacks and unauthorised bandwidth usage.

Announcement Subsystem: The Announcement Subsystem stores recorded announcements and tones, and plays them to end-users.

ISDN and DPNSS Gateways: The SoftSwitch supports ISDN Primary Rate and DPNSS gateways to enable the interconnection existing PBXs to the SoftSwitch.

Three Party Bridge: The Three Party Bridge provides the ability to conference 3 parties together in a voice call.

Management: The management system provides Network and Element Management for the SoftSwitch components. A graphical user interface provides a single point of access to allow management of the SoftSwitch components and their services, including provisioning, charging and maintenance. Distributed architecture and user-configurable software (running on Unix™ platforms) provide a scalable, flexible and resilient management system. The management system also supports a number of central servers that provide:

  • Management of software builds and data configuration
  • Charging
  • User management
  • Secure data storage
